The Entry

The foyer can sometimes be so overlooked and neglected. Yet it is the first room of the house to speak about what is to come throughout the rest of the home. It sets the standard for the rest. It can intrigue and indulge you at the same time, giving off a sneak peak of the other rooms, beckoning you in. It is the 'first impressionist'. What does your foyer say about you.

Going back to my practical design goal for Burchcroft, we wanted a foyer that performed its function well. It is the gateway to our home, the room that connects you to the rest of the house. But at the same time I didn't want it to be a room that you couldn't in-fact linger in, if you wanted too.  Spend some time in if you liked. And I feel that was achieved. 

I hoped for a really grand, yet understated, welcoming first impression, that invites you in and asks you to stay a little while. Plus it has the perfect space a for a huge tree at Christmas, which I love.
